Spine Care
The spine is extraordinarily complex and is tied to every movement you make with your body. Injuries to the neck and back can be caused from sports injuries, trauma, car accidents and repetitive stress/overuse. Spine injuries may also arise from poor posture and ergonomic position, movement mechanics, osteoarthritis, or post-surgery.
Because of the spine’s central role in all movements, a spine injury or problem can be frightening and debilitating, sometimes discouraging people from taking an active approach to rehabilitation. This can be especially true if the person has already been treated with invasive surgeries, various medications and injections, or they’ve been recommended to manage their condition. Worse yet, these solutions often only provide short-term relief.
CVPT’s approach to treating spine diagnoses includes creating a plan that integrates patient goals, and the latest, most effective treatment techniques to restore safe and pain-free movement.
Treatment
Our comprehensive approach to treatment is extremely empowering for our spinal patients, both physically and emotionally. Your physical therapist will work to create an effective treatment approach that restores movement, reduces fear, and helps you put your full energy towards healing.
We’ll evaluate your injury both manually and with movements that test flexibility, mobility, and strength. Our expert therapists will then use a combination of manual therapy techniques, targeted exercises, and modalities to reduce your pain, improve spinal mobility and strength, and ultimately improve your overall functional ability. We will then develop a home program specific to your symptoms, functional movement, lifestyle, and other factors. Our integrative approach creates an effective program to put you on the path to pain-free movement and also reduce the risk of re-injury.
